Uni girl embraces her culture.

Knowing your culture and your heritage shows a true identity of a person. Veronica Batari a 22 years old hales from West New Britain from a remote village in the Talasea district name Harile.

Loving her culture so much that she had t represent her province and her village and took part at Wan Solwara (NGI) showcase night.

Batari spoke the Bola dialect and her culture is called Bakovi and that is what she dressed according to during the show.

This event was hosted by the five provinces of the New Guinea Islands Region of PNG. West New Britain Student Association is one of the five student associations on that night.

Veronica has represented the WNBSA as Miss West New Britain and she contested for Miss NGI and she came in second to the New Ireland representatives.

Veronica is also the treasurer of the West New Britain Students Association and she is a very active member of the association and she works tirelessly.

Veronica has been juggling studies with the association’s post and sometime got depressed when instructions are given out but the result is not good.

“I am a very brave young lady who loves my people and likes to show my culture to everyone”, says Veronica.

During the show she and her partner performed well and they came second, this shows the effort and time she put into her culture.

She advised the young generation to hold on to what their forefathers are teaching them and do not let the things of this contemporary world let their culture die out.
